The Title IX Coordinator, in conjunction with the investigator(s), is responsible for deciding on sanctions. If an appeal is requested, it is referred to the Appeal Panel. The Title IX Coordinator has discretion to determine whether sanctions are put on hold pending the outcome of an appeal or implemented immediately. University of Louisiana at Lafayette provides a sanctioning code, but it is not very clear. Sanctions can include educational, restorative, or punitive components, including suspension or expulsion. They do not publicize the number of cases and sanctions no do they explicitly mention whether an attorney is allowed to be present. A timeline of 60 days is specified for the investigation. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette forbids mediation for cases involving violent offenses but does not specify whether investigators are trauma informed.
Accommodations are available to survivors outside of the adjudication process and these requests can be made without undergoing a formal complaint or investigation process. The university has a student health center but it is unclear whether they provide emergency contraception. Their student health center does not have a sexual assault center and they refer people to other hospitals in the community. There is no sexual assault advocacy center on campus, but they do have a partnership with the Lafayette Parrish Sexual Assault Response Team. It is not specified whether campus police are trauma informed.
